About Us

Welcome to Saddleworth 3Ds. We were established in 1992, so local children could enjoy playing football. Originally attracting children from Delph, Dobcross and Denshaw (the 3Ds in our name) we now attract players from across the area who attend our soccer school and play for our youth teams that go from under 7’s to under 17’s. We also run three open age teams and an over 35’s veterans team.

Our mission

To provide the best football experience to everyone involved with the club, regardless of age, sexuality, gender, ethnic origin or ability. We promote the coaching of football in an atmosphere that facilitates the development of young people in terms of self-discipline, good behaviour and teamwork. We aim to make sure all players, boys and girls, have the opportunity to develop through football, their personal, social and sporting skills in an environment where their welfare and enjoyment are paramount, in all decisions the club makes.

Our purpose

Saddleworth 3Ds Football Club makes a positive impact in the local community by helping to develop better people through football. We want to create a lasting legacy for anyone who joins the club, and want them to stay associated with the club, whether they are a player, coach, official, parent or supporter. Our ethos is ‘to provide an outlet for football for players in the local community, regardless of ability.’

Our philosophy

All of our managers and coaches are expected to create a positive environment where players can learn and develop. Their role is to encourage and help the players and the team to follow the club’s objectives and ideals. This means putting the players’ needs before their own and sacrificing a result in the short term, so players can develop in the long term. This philosophy is what our club is built on. This provides guidance, direction and purpose to our unpaid volunteer managers and coaches who are not judged on results. They are recognised for developing the players they coach and the positive, safe and enjoyable environment they create. Saddleworth 3Ds promotes the FA’s four corner model for long-term player development.
